Our Stories

I have never had a teacher as truly engaged and passionate about expanding students minds as Mr. Asboe. He had the most interesting and engaging activities that forced students to really think and not just check boxes. Mr. Asboe took a group of uninvolved and politically apathetic children and turned us into a group of passionate and politically educated adults. He had such a level of enthusiasm that made it impossible not to love his class.

Mr. Reece is a perfect match for this award. He is very kind, funny, and creates a great environment in his classroom. He makes it easy to learn, instead of handing out papers and leaving us to work alone, he does engaging activities with the material. I am not a history guy but Mr. Reece makes learning history interesting and fun.

Bryson N.

Mr. Drysdale, I feel like I should say this more often but, thank you! Your passion for teaching shows and has affected me tremendously in the best way possible. I get excited for your classes; I feel like they will stick with me for the rest of my life. Even though you teach more of the serious subjects, you always find a way to make it fun. Thank you and I hope you enjoy your retirement; you deserve it!

When asked who my favorite teacher is, there is no hesitation. My mind immediately goes to Mr. Taylor. He is relatable, strict enough to keep his students in line and has high expectations for his students. He also knows and loves the subjects he teaches. Keeping a good learning environment is a priority for Mr. Taylor, he expects his students to be focused and on task during learning time, but also provides his students time to get to know each other. He uses his high expectations to help us rise above and beyond.

Mrs. Peterson is like a ray of sunshine on my cloudy days. You have made me so much better at English and you have helped me learn so many things. Thank you for always being patient and kind to me. Thank you for helping me feel like I matter. I truly think you have made the most impact on me at school.

Ms. Sarah Flatter-Zohlman goes above and beyond for her students. She is constantly looking for (and sharing) innovative ways to teach and reach her students, she is detail oriented in her feedback to her students, provides a kind and loving figure in their lives, and sends out weekly newsletters to keep parents informed. When I think there is literally nothing else this amazing woman could do, the next day she will share a tip or show me something she is doing and I am blown away all over again.

Ms. Scottie Taylor, PHS Math Teacher

“Mr. Praska is awesome, he is always full of energy and he makes the warm-ups and stretching fun. It is always fun to go to his class and workout, and the energy in the class is always the best.

Ms. Betty has by far been the most inspirational and wonderful teacher I have had in my years of school. Her ability to inspire is from her being able to so fully enjoy what she does. She has taught me to enjoy what I do in life and to make the best of any situation even though it may be difficult.
